Abstract: newline v newlineABSTRACT newlineTribal people are well informed about the causative factor of various ailments newlineand also the medicinal herbs that can cure those ailments Pachamalai Hills known for newlineits richest biodiversity and it is one of greenest mountains in Tamil Nadu More number newlineof people belonging to Malayalis community live here and they have good knowledge newlineabout the curing effect of medicinal herbs The study was undertaken in order to newlineascertain the medicinal value of these plants which are used for heart diseases by the newlinetribal people in Pachamalai Hills, Tamil Nadu, India Based on Ethnomedical field newlinesurvey, a total number of 14 species of medicinally important plants that can cure newlinecardiovascular diseases that belong to 11 families are distributed in 12 genera The newlinestudy would serve as evidence for the traditional use of the medicinal plants by newlineMalayali community in the management of CVD However, most of the plants used by newlinethe Malayali community are not recorded Hence, we describe ETHNOMED: newlineEthnomedicinal plant database containing information about the medicinal plants for newlinethe treatment of cardiovascular diseases The record entry in the database contains the newlinefollowing information about the plant: Accession number, Plant name, Vernacular newlinename, Plant description, Part used, Mode of preparation Plant classification section newlineincludes Kingdom, Division, Class, Order , Family, Genus, Species, FTIR studies, newlineFTIR Analysis, Accession number, Plant Name, Plant part, Image, Peak value, newlineVibration mode range, Vibration mode, UV analysis, GCMS analysis The medicinal newlineplants of Pachamalai Hills pave way for the novel treatment of cardiovascular diseases newlinePlants such as Allium sativum, Piper nigrum, Nelumpo nucifera, Cinnamon verum and newlinetheir formulations are very useful to the treatment of CHD The particular investigation newlineof the medicinal plants and their constituents for their pharmacological actions will help newlinein the development of new molecules for the treatment of heart diseases. The study newlinewas carried out to characterize the bioactive constituent of 14 medicinal plants using newlineUV-VIS,FTIR and GCMS analysis Research should identify specific molecules from newlinethe plants that can bind with LDL receptor using docking studies To confirm the newlinedocking study results, animal studies (in vivo) to be conducted to confirm the efficacy newlineof plant extracts.
