Abstract: The research work focus on the topic A study of buyer behavior on selected over the counter products of pharmaceutical Industry with respect to Chhattisgarh . The research work is basically a study of determining consumer behavior towards OTC drugs, these drugs can involve (but not limited to) health supplements such nutralite and protinex or can involve cough treating agents such as Benadryl and Torex or can involve use of skin drugs such as borosoft and Boroplus. The study will focus upon determining consumer behavior towards OTC products by considering the fact that consumer behavior towards commodity is affected by certain factors that in turn is based upon person s demographic profile such as ethnicity, age, gender, monthly income etc. The consumer behavior apart from demographic factors also depends upon external stimuli such as product appearance, price, suggestion from formal or informal group, buying geography and self-exposure learning. Many more factors can also contribute to affect the consumer buying behavior, but the variations explained by these factors in consumers buying behavior might saturate out and only slight improvement is noticed in explanation of variation. This research work hence focuses upon determining factors affecting consumer behavior towards OTC products with respect to Chhattisgarh using factor analysis methods. Once the factors are obtaining few factors from those extracted ones are selected as independent variables along with demographic variables like age, Gender and monthly incomes also as independent variables and checking their level of relationship with consumer buying behavior with the help of multivariate regression analysis. Since these methods are scientific and mathematical model, quantization of variables is necessary irrespective whether it is dependent (consumer behavior) or it is independent (consider factors, discussed above).
